ABOUT US

Grand Strategies is a company devoted to excellence in the food retailing field. As such we have assembled a team of individuals and company partnerships who posses both expertise in their field of practice and superb insight into retailing.

The two principle members of Grand Strategies include;

Charles "Chip" Hooley

Mr. Hooley applies over 30 years of food industry knowledge from the retail, wholesale and manufacturing perspectives. Throughout his career, he has held executive positions with SuperValu, Cub Foods, and Simek's. As an executive in these positions, he managed multi-million dollar budgets, orchestrated all aspects of business development and new product introductions, and produced an exceptional record of accomplishments of building sales, profits, and expense control.

Mr. Hooley combines and supports his practical experience with an advanced degree in business (MBA) and as a member of the faculty with the University of Phoenix, teaching graduate level courses in Leadership and Change Management, and Strategic Planning.

Mr. Hooley began Grand Strategies as a result of the demand from medium and small businesses to have a better understanding of the complex world of food retailing and to help these companies avoid the many obstacles encountered when introducing new products or building sales in an existing line.

Greg Bartz

Greg brings to Grand Strategies an extensive knowledge of small business ownership.

As an entrepreneur Greg started a small service company while enrolled at the University of Minnesota in 1982 and was sole owner for over 16 years.

Emphasizing the importance of customer service, he was able to grow his company from a sole proprietorship to a corporation of 45 staff members.  He was responsible for recruiting staff, training, company sales, office management and marketing his company.

Greg entered the food industry after being recruited by a local Twin Cities food company to assist in outside sales growth.  While there Greg was the top selling partner 4 of the 5 years.

Greg uses the Four M's of Management (mentoring, motivating, mediating, and monitoring) in his daily interactions.  Understanding each person's individual uniqueness's has a lot to do with effective management.
